As North-South, I welcome my
opponents to the table, introduce my partner and
myself, and generally make the
courteous efforts for a
harmonious atmosphere. These efforts seem to be
well received.
After my opponents move to the next table, I often find their
leavings: discarded napkins and candy wrappers, empty
cups or plates, food crumbs and, rather disgustingly,
used tissues.
Unfortunately, this
experience is not relegated purely to tournaments
but also at the bridge clubs. The owners of these
clubs provide beverages and often snacks por
gratis (that's "free"). Why abuse their generosity
with such Discourtesy!
The tournament sites and bridge clubs
are not personal dump sites. This is like
allowing someone to trash your home.
Let's show Courtesy
for our fellow
players and club owners,
pick up our garbage and keep our playing areas clean. Keep the
"Dis" away.
